Center for Science & Environment , India
stirred
a Hornet's nest by pioneering the first green rating project for Paper
and Pulp Industry. The industry woke up in disbelief and raised many questions.
However, they finally realized the importance of caring for the environment
and are now collaborating with the Government in cleaning the house. Other
industries targeted include:
Agro
Inputs
Asbestos
Cement
Distilleries
Dyestuffs
Power
Steel
Sugar
Textiles
Oil
& gas
Non-ferrous
Metals
Pharmaceuticals
Plastics
Petrochemical
There was a need to provide
a unbiased platform to both the industry and the Government and Non Government
organizations where they could develop a scientific approach towards green
ratings.
We take pleasure in establishing a premier
forum on Green Ratings , its methods, procedures, feasibility and impact
with particular focus on India and developing countries throughout the
world.
The forum would be moderated by D.K. Daukia,
a NIEPian who has now worked in the Paper & Pulp Industry for more
than 10 years, considered one of the biggest polluters. He is a graduate
from Indian Institute of Forest Management and brings to you a wealth
of knowledge and experience in moderating this discussion.
Experts, grass root workers, students, policy
makers, NGO's and organizations working to make their surroundings and
work flow pollution free are invited to join this forum and enrich a collective
understanding towards a pollution free world.
