About The Institute
The Indian Institute of Forest Management Bhopal is a premier sectoral management institute funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, which constantly endeavors to evolve knowledge useful for the managers in the area of Forest, Environment and Natural Resources Management and allied sectors. It disseminates such knowledge in ways that promote its application by individuals and organizations. IIFM conducts the prestigious two year full time Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry Management (PGDFM) and carries out research, training and consulting in the area of Natural Resource Management and Environment.
IIFM has been entrusted with the following three important roles :
· As a leader in the field of Forestry, Environment and Natural Resource Management Education, be concerned with pushing the frontiers of knowledge for development of the sector.
· As a prime mover of knowledge in its field, interpret and adjust world’s knowledge to the Indian context, experiment and create an indigenous body of knowledge.
· As an Apex Institute, to provide effectively trained teachers to other educational institutions in the field with which it is concerned.
Faculty
The Director of the Institute, as its executive head, supervises the activities of the faculty and the administration. The Institute prides itself in having a multi-disciplinary faculty which is a mix of academicians and practicing forest officers in the following eight faculty areas
· Applied Computer Technology and Quantitative Techniques
· Communication and Extension Methods and Forestry Extension.
· Ecosystem Management and Technical Forestry
· Financial Management, Accounting and Control
· Forest Resource Economics and Management
· Marketing Management
· Personnel Management and Organizational Behaviour.
· Sociology and Social Anthropology.
The administrative support system consists of the Administrative Officer, Finance Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, Assistant Librarian, and Assistant Managers who look after Academic Activities, Academic Services, Administrative matters, Maintenance, and Horticulture.
