The writer, Sandeep Chakravorty (35) is a member of the Indian Foreign Service, presently stationed in Bogotá, Colombia. Is alumnus of the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal. Formerly was with the Society for Promotion of Wastelands Development (SPWD), New Delhi. He is a active NIEPian and a prominent member of our group. When as a child I had heard and read about Darwin and the evolution theory, somewhere in the back of the mind words like the Galápagos Islands, Beagle, Turtles, Iguanas had got registered as something mystical, a paradise, some place far off in the middle of nowhere which I could only dream of but never visit.
